2 Broke Stampers debut challenge

Hello stampers,
Hey y'all, today's the day! I'm teaming up with long-time online friend, Carol Read (aka The Paper Diva) every Wednesday to do challenges that get us out of our comfort zones. Each week we will focus on a theme, technique, stamp set, color combo or 3D items & see what we can do with what we selected. We have decided to call ourselves the "2 Broke Stampers", what do you think? We would love for you to join us too if you don't venture out of your comfort zone much,
Our first challenge we decided to focus on the Holiday Catalog as a theme, since it just made its debut yesterday. My brain needed a little help getting into the groove, so I looked online for some sketches & found two.
My first card, I used an old sketch from Sketch Frenzy Friday, as it was just what I was looking for. I decided that at least 1 of my cards had to be a fall card. For the base I used Blackberry Bliss Card Stock, followed by a layer of Delightful Dijon Card Stock (which I realized I forgot to emboss before attaching it to the card, OOPSIE!) For the banner, I used Cajun Craze Card Stock, added 2 Very Vanilla Candy Dots & punched the other end with the Banner Triple Punch. I added to very small pieces of Tip Top Taupe Card Stock to either side of the banner, one of which I added a sentiment from the And Many More Stamp Set in Blueberry Bliss Ink. Finally, for the stamped image I stamped the wreath from the Festive Fireplace Stamp Set onto Very Vanilla Card Stock with Delightful Dijon Ink & used the Blueberry Bliss Marvelous Marker to color in the berries, punched this out using the 1 3/4" Circle Punch, then backed it with Tip Top Taupe Card Stock which had been punched with the 2" Circle Punch. For the bow, I used the same set, stamped it with Blueberry Bliss Ink, cut it out using the Big Shot & Festive Fireside Framelits, then attached it to the wreath.

Sets: Festive Fireplace, And Many More
Ink/Markers: Delightful Dijon, Blueberry Bliss
Paper: Very Vanilla, Tip Top Taupe, Cajun Craze, Delightful Dijon, Blackberry Bliss
Other: Neutrals Candy Dots, 1 3/4" & 2" Circle Punches, Banner Triple Punch

For my second card, I went the Christmas route & used the CYCI #84 sketch from Can You Case It.  I started with Crumb Cake Cake Card Stock as my base, followed by Merry Moments DSP & Old Olive Card Stock. For the stamped image, I used the Peaceful Pines Stamp Set, stamping the tree in Old Olive & Crumb Cake Ink, the star in Crushed Curry Ink & the pail in Cherry Cobbler Ink, this was layered onto Old Olive Card Stock.

Sets: Peaceful Pines
Ink/Markers: Crushed Curry, Old Olive, Cherry Cobbler, Crumb Cake
Paper: Whisper White, Old Olive, Crumb Cake, Merry Moments DSP

I hope you have enjoyed my 2 projects, now head on over to Carol's blog HERE, to see what she came up with for our first challenge. I already know she did a few more projects than I did.
