Happy 4th of July

Hello stampers,

I went deep into my retired collection to make today's card. I hope everyone has a safe celebration today!

I started this card with a Basic White Cardstock base, followed by a layer of last year's Regals DSP then a strip of Blueberry Bushel Cardstock that I embossed using the Subtle 3D Embossing Folder. I used the Land Of The Free Stamp Set with Gray Granite & Blueberry Bushel Ink on Basic White Cardstock then layered it on top of Real Red Cardstock, before adding it to the card layer using Stampin' Dimensionals. Lastly, I used the Itty Bitty Accents (Star) Punch to punch out a few Basic White Cardstock stars to add to the blue strip.

Courage & Honor

Hello stampers,

Today is Throwback Thursday for 2 retired stamp sets. For those that may not know, I am the wife of a retired Marine, so I've kept all of the military sets Stampin' Up! has ever had. One of the Marines who served under my husband is about to retire himself soon & we'll be going to his ceremony, so this is the card I made for him.

I started with a Real Red Cardstock base & stamped it using Real Red Ink with the retired Camouflage Background stamp. For the image, I used the retired Courage & Honor stamp of the flag raising in Iwo Jima & stamped it on Basic White Cardstock using Memento Black Ink. I die-cut this piece & a Wild Wheat Cardstock layer using the Deckled Rectangle Dies then adhered them together before adding them to the base. Since I couldn't find a sentiment to use on the front I added a congratulations on the inside & wrote a message.

Paper Measurements-

  • Real RedCardstock:
    • Base - 8 1/2 x 5 1/2
  • Wild Wheat Cardstock:
    • Layer - 3 1/2 x 5
  • Basic White Cardstock:
    • Layer - 3 1/4 x 4 3/4

Stamp Review Crew - Nature's Print

Hello stampers,

It's the 1st Monday of the month & that brings another Stamp Review Crew Blog Hop. We are a group of Stampin' Up! Demonstrators from around the world who share different ideas made with the featured stamp set. This week that stamp set is Nature's Print. Since tomorrow is the 4th of July, I thought I'd try a red, white & blue theme.

I started my card with a Blueberry Bushel Cardstock base that I cut down one side by 2 1/2" after scoring, what was left was embossed using the Fern 3D Embossing Folder. I took a Basic White Cardstock card front & used 2 of the stamps in the Nature's Print Stamp Set using Blueberry Bushel & Poppy Parade Inks to stamp all over, then adhered it under the embossed part of the Blueberry Bushel flap. Next, I stamped the largest stamp using Blueberry Bushel Ink on Poppy Parade Cardstock then die-cut using the Natural Print Dies, then glued it to the card. I used a sentiment from the set with Poppy Parade Ink on Basic White Cardstock then used the Banners Pick A Punch to punch a banner end then adhered it to the white portion of the card under the red stamped piece. Lastly, I used a few Sparkle Gems to finish the card.

Paper Measurements-

  • Blueberry Bushel Cardstock:
    • Base - 8 1/2 x 5 1/2, cut 2 1/2" off
  • Basic White Cardstock:
    • Layer - 4 1/4 x 5 1/2
  • Poppy Parade Cardstock:
    • Layer - 2 1/2 x 3 1/2

Hello stampers,

Happy Birthday, WWII veteran

Hello stampers,
So I decided that I would take the morning off of packing & stressing about all that is needed to be done for this move. Last week one of our radio stations put out a request to send a birthday card to a WWII veteran & this is the card I made for him.
I decided I wanted to do a patriotic themed birthday card. I started with the retired For Your Country Stamp Set using Memento Black to stamp the soldier stamp onto Whisper White Cardstock, which was then layered onto Poppy Parade Cardstock. Next, I used the splatter stamp from the Touches Of Texture Stamp Set, splattering the top with Poppy Parade Ink & the bottom with Pacific Point Ink, leaving a little plain white for the center, this was then mounted on Pacific Point Cardstock. I hope he likes the card!
Card Measurements
  • Pacific Point base- 5-1/2"x8-1/2"
  • Whisper White layer- 4"x5-1/4", 2-1/2"x3"
  • Poppy Parade layer- 2-3/4"x3-1/4"

    Happy Birthday, America!

    Hello stampers,
Happy Frenzy Friday! I hope everybody has a fun & safe holiday weekend. Please remember to pause & thank/pray for the men & women who continue to fight for our freedoms.
So I was a bit busy yesterday & totally forgot to submit my card, but I did make my post for it. This was a hard sketch for me as I couldn't get beyond the stars, until I saw a preview of another card & remembered interpretation is half the battle. For the base of the card, I used Real Red Card Stock, followed by a layer of Whisper White Card Stock. I used the Celebrate Today Stamp Set to add decoration to the Real Red, Whisper White & Pacific Point Card Stock balloons, that were cut out using the Balloon Framelits in the Big Shot, which were then tied with White Baker's Twine. I used a strip of Pacific Point DSP followed by a Real Red Card Stock piece punched out with the Washi Label Punch, followed by a Whisper White Card Stock piece punched with the Word Window Punch. Lastly, I added a sentiment from the Teeny Tiny Wishes Stamp Set onto the Word Window piece.
This week's sketch was created by Kim Innis. Hop on over to the SFF blog & check out what the other team members did. Better yet, make your own card based on the sketch below & add your link to this week's challenge. Happy sketching & enjoy your weekend!

    She's a grand ole' flag

    Hello stampers,
Happy July 4th everyone! Hoping you are able to share this day with friends & family. Please remember our troops who defend our great nation that aren't able to be with their own families today.
Today's card is showcasing a die from Taylored Expressions. I had wanted to try adding words to it, but I can't find any of my patriotic sets at the moment. But I think for the outside the flag speaks volumes and doesn't need anything more, I hope you agree!

VC Rocks Have A Heart Blog Hop

     Hello stampers,
Welcome to the 1st blog hop of VC Rocks 2012, I am stop 26. Our theme this hop is to use at least 1 heart in our project. My theme includes the hearts but leans towards a patriotic/military theme for 2 reasons.1. May is Military Appeciation Month, so there are designated days throughout the month, today happens to be Armed Forces Day, which is celebrated in several nations. Have you thanked a loved one or someone you know for their service today? 2. In just over a week is Memorial Day, a day to reflect on those who have passed protecting the freedoms we so enjoy today.
If you don't know what VC Rocks is, please check out our blog for more info and to see the entire list of blog hop participants in case of broken links. You have until the end of the month to join if you want to have lots & lots of fun, however, we can facilitate LOTS of emails, so BEWARE!
If you are following along the hop from the beginning, you should have come from Carolyn's site-Inking the Night Away her card is beautiful!
I haven't quite decided if I will use this 1st project on a scrapbook page yet or not, I guess I could use it as a hidden journaling block if I so choose.

Hooray for the Red, White & Blue!

I hope you all enjoyed your holiday weekend, ours was quiet for the 1st time in 3 years, fireworks were banned except to professionals due to our severe drought. Not supposed to have them in our subdivision anyways but no one ever listens, they did yesterday to my utter amazement.
As for this card I know I am a day late & a dollar short, story of my life these days. I decided I wanted to give my owl punch a try, haven't used it since I got it, I know utter *shock* right? I've got samples galore of the owl in costume & I was trying to figure out how I could go with the July 4th theme. So here is my rendition~

New Catalog & Happy 4th of July

Have y'all had a chance to check out the new SU! catalog that went live on Friday? I'm so excited to see all the new toys that are in there. If you haven't seen it, you can go online HERE to check it out for yourself!
As for me, I've been planted on my couch since Wednesday trying to get over this summer cold that has gone to my chest not good at all, funny how it came on when I had a few days off & I'm sure it will be all gone by the time I return to work. Great way to spend your days off, especially when you have so many in a row!NOT! However, I did take me some good cough medicine last night & am starting to feel somewhat human again.
Anyways, I gotta know if the following has happened to anyone else. As I was drifting off to sleep last night I had a wonderful card idea pop into my head, too tired to go back upstairs I told myself that I would work on it today. I got up this morning raring to go, got everything out I needed & went to get the stamp set & it wasn't where it was supposed to be on my shelf. I looked all over for it, even in my box of sets that I want to sell but alas I haven't found it, so I'm going to guess that somewhere along the lines I sold it & just don't remember. There goes that idea down the drain along with another card that I started & is about 50% done, but it isn't turning out the way I hoped so will have to figure out what is missing.
I finally got a card done that I liked took me most of the day & now it is the 4th. I wanted to do red, white & blue cards this whole weekend for the 4th, but this is the only one I could get done that I liked. Operation Write Home blog was issuing challenges all day Saturday & Sunday, so here is my rendition for the 4th of July Party: Challenge 11 Pinwheel Cards

Almost forgot to come back here & post this after leaving the house too early this morning. As you know from my post earlier this morning, I had a hard time making up cards & this morning I still didn't have my mojo to do a Christmas card, so instead I did a Remembrance card.
