I hope all the mothers had a very special day yesterday. Today's post will be a little longer & have more pics than one of my usual posts because it turned out to be more than I had envisioned.
So I decided that I wanted to color some die cuts like I had seen Brandy Cox do in a YouTube video a few weeks back. I chose to use the Many Layered Blossoms Die Set for this card. I started with Basic White Cardstock then cut out the detailed die & colored it using Lt. Polished Pink, Dk. Pale Papaya, Lt. Daffodil Delight & Lt./Dk. Old Olive Stampin' Blends.
So below left is the finished product of coloring the background using Dk. Polished Pink, Dk. Pumpkin Pie, Dk. Old Olive, Lt. Mossy Meadow & Lt. Melon Melody. The picture to the right is both pieces together & my friend was right as this was what I went with in the end. Before running the detail die through the Big Shot I attached it to Adhesive Sheets so that it would be easier to mount. Of course, I remembered to do that after coloring this piece the 1st time so I had to redo it HAHA!
Next, I had to make a decision on what color background I was going to attach this to. Basic White was good but it just didn't make it stand out.
So I mounted my dies to Basic Black Cardstock then added that to a Polished Pink Cardstock base. I added some bling by adding Basic Rhinestones. I finished the card by punching out Daffodil Delight Cardstock using the retired Washi Label Punch & using the Timeless Tulip Stamp Set for the sentiment with Memento Black Ink. Now, to figure how to use the black background piece for another card.
My 1st intention was to back this up with the thicker background die using Basic Black Cardstock. But then I showed it to a stamping friend who I should try it with Basic White Cardstock then color it in with darker shades. Of course, my friend just laughed at me cuz she knew that meant a little bit more work for me than my original idea.
