My Stamp Vault: Whale Done Birthday Fishes

Hello stampers,

I very rarely get inspiration from pictures even if it's just a color combo. But I found this beautiful picture & all my mind was thinking of is what Stampin' Up! color is this one or that one. I set off to see if I could make a card for it & all I could think of was to make an ocean card like the pic.

Isn't this picture beautiful? I've never seen a seahorse with this coloring before.

I started my card off with a Basic White Cardstock layer then began using the Whale Done Stamp Set to start figuring out what colors I could make my card. I started with Positively Pink (jellyfish), Parakeet Party (kelp), Evening Evergreen (sea turtle), Soft Succulent (fish) Bermuda Bay & Melon Mambo Ink Pads (sea horses). After I was done with my stamping I started to work on the background, I used the Blending Brushes with Soft Succulent & Evening Evergreen Ink, but I wasn't getting it nearly as dark as the picture, so I added a bit of Starry Sky Ink & reinked my Evening Evergreen Ink Pad in hopes that it would help & it did to a point. I didn't get it as dark as I really wanted but stopped while I was ahead before making it too dark & having to redo it. For the sentiment, I chose one from the same set, stamping it with Evening Evergreen Ink then layering it on top of a layer of Evening Evergreen Cardstock. For the frame, I chose the Stitched Rectangle Dies to die-cut a piece of Evening Evergreen & Basic White Cardstock, then used the trimmer to cut the white piece down to fit inside of the frame. I then stamped the sea horse, rolling one side of it in Bermuda Bay Ink then took a Sponge Dauber & added the Melon Mambo Ink to the inside of the sea horse then attached it on top of the sentiment layer using Mini Dimensionals. I added a few 2021-23 In Color Opal Rounds to finish the card.

- Base – 4 1/4 x 5 1/2
- Sentiment- 1 x 4
- Frame- 1 1/8 x 1 5/8
Basic White Cardstock:
- Sentiment – 7/8 x 4
- Frame- 1 x 1 1/2
