Hello Stampers,
Sympathy cards are never easy to make, especially when they are for family. When I started this card for a sketch challenge with The Paper Players I was going in a totally different direction but by the finishing touches I decided to make this for a family member. Getting old really sucks not only for those we lose, but also for us when medical issues arise & we feel like we can't just catch a break, it has truly been one of those weeks.
For this card, I chose to use Lost Lagoon Cardstock for the base & the background layer which was embossed using the Exposed Brick 3D Embossing Folder. For the strip, I used the Nature's Walk DSP which I adhered to the embossed layer. I used the Nature's Symphony Dies to make a die-cut of the leaves using Pretty Peacock Cardstock. For the sentiment, I used Lost Lagoon Cardstock, punched out with the 3 Banner Punch, then stamped the sentiment from the Beautiful Motifs Stamp Set with Pretty Peacock Ink & used Stampin' Dimensionals to pop it up. Lastly, I used the retired Dragonflies & Birds to finish the card.
All supplies are Stampin' Up! unless otherwise noted.

You're so right about sympathy cards being hard to make and the perils of aging. But this card is a beauty. The colours create a sense of calmness and reflection. The tiny dragonflies are the perfect finishing touch for that contemplative mood. Thank you for joining in with my sketch challenge this week at The Paper Players.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the colors you chose here. You're right about sympathy cards---get well cards, thinking of you cards---sometimes the thoughts we want to say are challenging! Anyone would feel better receiving this card, though! Thanks for sharing this with us at the Paper Players this week!
